Community Info #1 - The VIP Transition
Well then, I'm very curious to see how this is going to work out. First of all: I would like to avoid that these blogs are seen as a kind of justification in the name of Club Cooee, but unfortunately this will not always be possible. I actually want to try and share our thoughts on decisions or specific situations with you and help you think outside the box. These blogs are also not highly official statements or press releases, but just a small attempt to make you understand the world of Cooee behind the scenes. So please forgive my direct and maybe a little bit too harsh writing, but you guys know me :P
So let's get started! Since many people have asked me to write about the following issue, we will directly start with a current topic: the VIP transition.
(About "Cooee Cash" itself and the current challenge, I can write an extra blog, dear Brazilians and Indonesians. However, this is not a pure Cooee topic, but rather a general economic one).
Initial situation:
Until recently, it was common practice to exchange CC (Cooee Cash) for VIP for a desired period of time. A few weeks ago this was changed. Now, you can only buy VIP for real money.
Side note: In the app you could never get VIP with CC. So the change only affects the website / the Cooee PC version. To understand this better: more than 75% of the active Cooee users are now online on the app and almost all desktop users have a mobile device for their account in addition to using the PC.
Why was this changed?
At first glance, the reason seems pretty obvious: Cooee just wants to make more money.
But as so often in life, sometimes you need to take a second or third look, and that' what we are doing now. First of all, we have to realize what kind of impact VIP has on the Cooee world. Besides many little extras like the VIP badge on the profile, the marking around the/on the speech bubble, extensions at the DJ Party and the PLUS rooms, etc. there is one very important feature that comes with VIP. VIP opens the doors to the Marketplace.
There you can buy and sell rare and therefore valuable items. The Marketplace is an important part of the Cooee ecosystem and actually deserves its own blog post. It' s the reason why many users buy certain items in the first place and then resell them later for a profit. Almost like eBay, except that even used items always remain new.
But back to the actual topic: now you can also get CC without having to spend real money for it, for example, by watching videos, taking part in polls, drawing lots, other offers... and that's a good thing! However, this also led to the fact that you could gain VIP status and thus get access to the Marketplace. And now there are users who take advantage of these possibilities and buy a disproportionate amount of CC. If they get access to the Marketplace and can sell items, the ecosystem is falsified and a kind of inflation begins. This means that Cooee Cash and all items that can be traded in the Marketplace will eventually be less valuable. Of course, this is something we want to prevent by helping VIP to regain a worthy status.
The bottom line: In this way, we protect the value of your CCs and your valuable items in the long term and make VIP something special again.
I hope I was able to give you a little insight into what the transition is all about. Leave a comment if you can understand this view of things or not.
As a small drawback, we would like to make the transition of the transition a bit easier for you. That's why you can still get VIP for CC for a little while now, but only for up to 12 months. But in a few weeks this will no longer be possible and after that you can only get VIP for real money.
Be nice to each other, Tom.
There is a difference between posting opinions and claiming them for facts. In Germany we have a proverb: The sound makes the music.
;)
The decision is good Tom. But really it's being expensive for Indians to buy VIP on USD.
Its time to think with a business mind instead of being emotional :)
Actually, my problem is more complicated than that. I already live in a country where credit cards aren't used. Imagine living in a country in 2024 without access to buy things from the internet. I want to buy a cc and many other things, but I know this isn't your problem. I just wanted to explain
